The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library are committed to good fellowship, fun and service. The results of our efforts fund extra book and other collection purchases, targeted programs and special projects designed to make Cranbrook and the library better, more dynamic partners.
Annual General Meeting
Our Annual General Meeting will be held February 19, 2019, 12:10 h at the Manual Training Centre adjacent to the Library. Everyone is invited to come and see what we are doing, and bring your ideas and get involved.
Travelogue Help Needed
The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library are looking for a Travelogue volunteer. This person would help organize and promote the monthly Travelogues the Friends put on, which brings in money to help purchase new and up-to-date travel guides at the library. Sizzling Summer Book Sale
The Friends of the Library will hold this book sale in the Manual Training School, adjacent to the Library. Friday, June 7th is for Members only, 5 pm to 7 pm. Saturday, June 8th Everyone is Welcome from 9 am to 4 pm. Come and find your summer reading. There are loads of book bundles and beach reads as well as a host of other topics for all ages. Your donations of books, CDs, & DVDs are welcome at the circulation desk in the Library. Call Marilyn 250-489-6254 for info.

Book Sale Shelf
Can’t wait for the next book sale? Check out the Friends Ongoing Book Sale shelf beside the circulation desk in the Library. It is continuously restocked with some of the best books donated throughout the year – from current releases, to old favourites, to hobbies and crafts. At only $2 a book, it’s the perfect place to pick something up to read on vacation or at home.
The Friends of the Library annual Adopt-a-Magazine campaign succeeds in getting over half the magazine subscriptions in the Library adopted. Those who adopt receive a tax deductible receipt and a donor recognition card is placed on the plastic magazine cover. If you are interested in seeing what’s available for adoption, stop by the Library and ask for Michele.
The popular travelogue series runs during the fall and winter. Dates and topics to be announced later. If you had an interesting travel experience and would like to share it with others, please contact Lynda Cook at 250-919-8382 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Winter Madness Sale
One always needs a book to read but sometimes you wish to browse a magazine, watch a DVD, listen to a CD, or play a puzzle or game on those cold winter days. This sale has everything – books, magazines, audio visual items, puzzles and games. Magazines cover everything from current events to crafts, cooking and more. DVDs ranging from TV shows to kids programs are also available. Audiophiles can browse a selection of music CDs and audio books. One must not forget the games and puzzles.
Those with a current Friends of the Library membership have special access at a preview night the evening before the sale opens to the public. They also receive a 10% discount. The sale is open to everyone the next day.
This year’s sale will be on Feb 1/ 2019 (Friday) from 5 pm to 7 pm for members only. And on Sat. Feb. 2nd from 9 am to 4 pm for the general public.
Donations for this sale are most welcome. We accept magazines published within the last three years; books, CDs, DVDS, Audiobooks, games and puzzles of all ages. Items in good condition are appreciated.
This sale is held in the Manual Training School adjacent to the Library.
The Friends of the Library are always happy to accept donations of gently used books, CDs, audio books, and DVDs. Unfortunately, the Friends cannot accept encyclopedias or National Geographics, Readers Digest Condensed Books or textbooks. Drop donations off at any time at the Cranbrook Public Library’s circulation desk.

The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library strive to make a difference in the cultural and social life of Cranbrook as it relates to the Cranbrook Public Library. We are active in promoting increased library services, better facilities and more programming directed toward the needs of Cranbrook’s residents.
All of our goals are designed to promote library services and the library’s involvement with the community of Cranbrook…

The Friends of the Library meet on the third Tuesday every month at 12:10 pm in the Manual Training School (1212 2nd Street North, beside the Library), except in July, August and December.
Annual General Meeting Results
The Friends of the Library’s Annual General Meetings took place on February 16, 2016. The key item of business was the ratification of the revised bylaws to bring them up to date. The Board Chair thanks everyone who came for contributing their ideas and voting to improve the organization.
