Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library are committed to good fellowship, fun and service. The results of our efforts fund extra book and other collection purchases, targeted programs and special projects designed to make Cranbrook and the library better, more dynamic partners.
Here is an update on the Friends and Covid-19
Due to the closure of the Library and just about every other meeting place, we also must suspend all our fundraising activities indefinitely. Today we had our last board meeting until this virus has taken its course.
The April Travelogue and Spring Fling Sale are cancelled and the Garage Sale, planned for May 1 and 2 are also questionable. It would be nice, if the threat of the virus is only a memory by then. Let’s hope😊
Should you be using this time of reduced activities to do some spring cleaning, please keep us in mind. We are always in need of gently used books, CD’s, DVD’s games and puzzles. As soon as the Library opens again, these can be dropped off at the circulation desk.
If you have any questions, please contact me at email@example.com or 250-426-4707.
Meanwhile, please stay healthy and catch up on your reading.
Travelogue Help Needed
The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library are looking for a Travelogue volunteer. This person would help organize and promote the monthly Travelogues the Friends put on, which brings in money to help purchase new and up-to-date travel guides at the library. If you are interested, please contact Ursula Boy at 250-426-4707 or at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Friends of the Library sold Chris Hadfield’s books at his appearance in Cranbrook on October 13th. Our thanks goes to CBT for this wonderful opportunity to raise over $4.700.00 for our Library. (pictured is Michele Wilson, Col. Chris Hadfield, Ursula Boy and Bernice Smith)
Browse the Friends of the Library’s latest newsletter to find out what they have been doing and what’s coming up. You can find it here.
Book Sale Shelf
Can’t wait for the next book sale? Check out the Friends Ongoing Book Sale shelf beside the circulation desk in the Library. It is continuously restocked with some of the best books donated throughout the year – from current releases, to old favourites, to hobbies and crafts. At only $2 a book, it’s the perfect place to pick something up to read on vacation or at home.
The Friends of the Library annual Adopt-a-Magazine campaign succeeds in getting over half the magazine subscriptions in the Library adopted. Those who adopt receive a tax deductible receipt and a donor recognition card is placed on the plastic magazine cover. If you are interested in seeing what’s available for adoption, stop by the Library and ask for Michele.
The popular travelogue series runs during the fall and winter. Dates and topics to be announced later. If you had an interesting travel experience and would like to share it with others, please contact Lynda Cook at 250-919-8382 or email@example.com.
Winter Madness Sale 2020

The Friends of the Library are always happy to accept donations of gently used books, CDs, audio books, and DVDs. Unfortunately, the Friends cannot accept encyclopedias or National Geographics, Readers Digest Condensed Books or textbooks. Drop donations off at any time at the Cranbrook Public Library’s circulation desk.
