At the Library for November 15th, 2016
Updated 2016/11/14
In ‘The 37th Parallel,’ author Ben Mezrich tells the true story of a computer programmer who spends his free time tracking down UFO sightings along a 3,000 mile stretch of American highway.
Merrie-Ellen Wilcox explains to younger readers just how honey bees are vital to the planet’s wellbeing, and what steps can be taken to protect them in ‘What’s the Buzz.’
Preschool Story Time is this Wednesday at 11:00 am, 1:15 pm, & 6:30 pm, and Toddler Story Time is 10:00 and 11:00 am. Both will be all about Police!
New this fall is Baby Laptime on Fridays at 1 pm. This program is for babies who are not yet walking so a specific age is not really set—best approximation is under 1 year of age. Since we do not have daycare for older siblings we ask that parents who have babies and children who are walking come to the toddler storytime instead of the baby laptime.
FOOD FOR FINES: For the entire month of December, the Library will be accepting donations of non-perishable food as payment for overdue fines. One item will be worth one dollar of fines. Any canned or boxed non-perishable food items will be accepted. All donations will be delivered to the food bank throughout the holiday season. This is a great way to get rid of those pesky overdue fines while helping others in need.
Paper Ornament Contest: Join us this Thursday, November 17th from 6 to 8 pm at the Library’s MTS room to craft your entry. The patron with the winning ornament will receive a cool gift card. Pre-registration is appreciated (you can simply call in to register). So come on in and pick up your entry to pre-colour for the workshop.
FREE one-on-one tech training session for those of you who want to enhance your current computing skills. We cover many topics including Basic Tablet usage, Basic Computer usage, Windows 10 training, Window 8 + 8.1 training, Window 7 training, Microsoft Suit training, Library E book training, and much more. To register, please contact the Library at (250) 426-4063, or sign up at the front desk.
