Shirin Ebadi—the first Muslim woman ever to win a Nobel Peace Prize—recalls a litany of civil abuses she had suffered from the Iranian government in her latest memoir ‘Until We Are Free.’

Is it OK to lie to protect a friend? This and other complex questions about human behavior are examined in a lively and humorous way for younger readers in ‘Half-Truths and Brazen Lies’ by Kira Vermond.

Storytime is now on hiatus until next fall. This can only meant that the Summer Reading Club is right around the corner. Free for all kids and teens, registration begins on June 25th and is ongoing throughout the summer. Book-A-Trip is this year’s theme, and will be full of programs, contests, prizes, etc. Please keep checking this column for more details.

We have partnered with the Cranbrook Garden Club to create a new collection of seeds, available at no charge. Now you can check out a packet of seeds, plant them, harvest the next generation of seeds, and return them so other people can check them out. Don’t forget the Library also has countless gardening books, magazines and even DVDs.
