After years of reporting from Afghanistan, Andrea Busfield deicide to write a novel set in the post-Taliban rule of Kabul. BORN UNDER A MILLION SHADOWS tells the story of Faward, an 11-year-old boy trying to come to grips with the destruction of his family and friends. His overwhelming grief is punctuated with unexpected moments of humor, the type only a young boy could create.
Everyone’s favorite wimpy kid is back in Jeff Kinney’s DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS. While Greg decides to spend summer vacation in the house playing video games, his mother has a different agenda for him, including spending time outside. One can only guess who will have the final say.
Preschool Story Time this Wednesday at 11:00 am, 1:15 pm, & 6:30 pm, and Toddler Story this Friday at 10:30 am will be all about Eggs (Easter)!
This Tuesday, March 30th at 7 pm, the Library is presenting ‘Prepare to Laugh’, with bestselling author and editor Matt Jackson. Matt’s hilarious travels across Canada have produced thoughtful and humorous bestsellers, including THE CANADA CHRONICLES, A BEAVER IS EATING MY CANOE, and I LEARNED KUNG FU FROM A BEAR CUB. So come on out for an enjoyable night of slides, music, and storytelling. This event takes place in our Manual Training Room, and is free to everyone.
Gigantic Garage Sale - Here is your chance to de-clutter your home and also help the Friends of the Library help the Library. The Friends are holding a garage sale in the Manual Training School (adjacent to the Library) on Saturday, April 10th, 9 AM to 2 PM. to raise funds for the acquisition of new books for the library. Household item donations to the sale would be gratefully accepted at the Manual Training School on Friday, April 9th, 10 am to 5 PM.
